Registering for Online Courses at BUA
To register for an online class, follow these steps.
- Make sure you have a BUA e-mail address and that you can access e-mail there. All electronic communication with students will be through their BUA e-mail addresses.
- Talk with your faculty advisor in person, by phone, or by e-mail and make sure that the class you want to take online is being offered in the online term for which you are registering.
- Make sure you are familiar with Blackboard, the course management tool used in BUA's online classes. See the FAQ for more information.
- Register for your online class either by going through the normal early registration or regular registration process (for on-campus students) or by sending an e-mail to the Registrar (for off-campus students).
- You must pay for your online class prior to the first day of class! Contact the Registrar for prices and payment information.
- Log into Blackboard (http://blackboard.btsr.edu) at least one week prior to the start of class, enroll yourself in the course (see the FAQ,) review the syllabus in the Course Information section, read the Announcements page, and follow any instructions that appear on that page. Make sure you purchase the textbooks, if any, prior to the first day of class. On-campus students may purchase most textbooks in the BUA bookstore; off-campus students should order their textbooks through online retailers like Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
- If you don't receive an e-mail message from your instructor by the Wednesday preceding the first day of class, contact the Registrar to make sure you are registered for the class and that it starts when you think it does. Remember that there are three terms: Alpha, Beta, and Gamma, which begin at the beginning of the semester, about the sixth week, and about the eleventh week, respectively.
