On Campus Housing

At Baptist University of the Americas (BUA) students have a choice of on-campus housing options. The newest on-campus residence is Piper Village (PV). This complex offers apartment-style living. Apartments for single students are called Resident Halls. The Resident Halls have units with four private bedrooms, two full bathrooms, living room, kitchenette with a sink, full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and a walk-in closet in each BR. Two students share a double occupancy bedroom. Single bedroom occupancy can be requested upon availability and an extra fee. This apartment complex is owned and managed by BUA and ALL single student residents are required to purchase meal plans.

Piper Village (PV) also has one and two bedroom apartments. These apartments are exclusively offered to married couples and families studying here at BUA. The apartments includes: one bathroom, a living room, a kitchenette with a sink, full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher and a walk-in closet. Residents are required to contact CPS Energy at 210-353-2222 to start electric service in their name. Married students are not required to purchase meal plan.

PV is a traditional style Resident Hall is conveniently located next to South-35 across from the BUA main campus. Restaurants nearby are: Olive Garden, Longhorn Steak House, Mama Margie’s and Red Lobster. Grocery Store: HEB is about 6-8 blocks away from PV.

Campus apartments will be available for full-time students on a first-come basis. The rental rates below are per month. Rent is due on the first business day of the month. Utilities are included in the rental charge for four-bedroom units. Residents in one and two-bedroom units are responsible for their utilities through arrangements with local providers.

The properties owned and managed by BUA prospective residents are expected to comply with all obligation of renewal agreement. For more information please contact housing@bua.edu.

Requirements for Prospective Single Residents

1.      Received Acceptance Letter to BUA from the Admissions Department

2.      Submit BUA- Housing Application for Single Resident Hall via e-mail to housing@bua.edu or via fax at (210) 924-2701.

3.      Information from previous Apartment Complex including: name, address, contact phone number, and e-mail of landlord.  Submit information via e-mail to housing@bua.edu or via fax at (210) 924-2701.

4.      Contact Sylvia Trujillo at the business office (210) 924-4338 Ext. 206 after you submit your housing application to pay your Housing Deposit of $300.

5.       The state of Texas requires that EVERY STUDENT residing in Resident Halls must show proof of Meningitis Vaccination. Immunization Meningitis Vaccination Record should be submitted to admissions office, admissions@bua.edu, no later than August 5, 2012 for the Fall Semester.

4.      Contact Sylvia Trujillo at the business office (210) 924-4338 Ext. 206 after you submit your housing application to pay your Housing Deposit of $550 for a 1 BR Apt. or $700 for a 2 BR Apt.

5.      The state of Texas requires that EVERY STUDENT, under 30 years of age, must show proof of Meningitis Vaccination. Immunization Meningitis Vaccination Record should be submitted to admissions office, admissions@bua.edu,  no later than August 5, 2012 for the Fall Semester.

6.      First month rent is required to occupy your apartment. After occupying apartment designated you need to contact CPS Energy at (210) 353-2222 or www.cps.energy.com to place electrical bill under your name.  Please note that a deposit may be required.

Health insurance is recommended for all students.

SUBMIT PROOF OF BACTERIAL MENINGITIS VACCINATION DOCUMENTS: Effective Fall 2012

Per Texas State Law (SB 1107), students who meet the criteria below, must provide proper documentation that they have received the bacterial meningitis vaccination at least 10 calendar days before the beginning of the semester.

• All new, returning and transfer students living on BUA and Piper Village Campus grounds.
• All new or transfer students under the age of 30
• All returning students under the age of 30, who have experienced a break in enrollment of at least one fall or spring term.
• New or returning continuing education students enrolled in a course or program.

HOW TO SUBMIT PROOF OF BACTERIAL MENINGITIS VACCINATION DOCUMENTS:

Baptist University of the Americas will accept documentation by email to Admissions Department at admissions@bua.edu before August 5, 2012 for the Fall semester.
