Dr. Jesús Romero

Dr. Jesús Romero is a native of Monterrey, Mexico. He serves as Professor of Spanish and Chair of the Department of Modern Languages at Baptist University of the Américas in San Antonio, Texas. He has been in higher education since 1993. Dr. Romero has been the recipient of the Who’s Who Among America’s Teachersaward in the years 2005-2006, 2003-2004, 2002, 2000 and 1998. He also received the Excellence in Teaching award from Howard Payne University in 1998 and 2002, and the Fermín Flores Full Time Professor of the Year Award in 2014 from Baptist University of the Américas.
Dr. Romero also serves as Director of theImmigration Service and Aid Center (ISAAC Project), a BIA-recognized, collaborative ministry of Texas Baptists and BUA. Dr. Romero received his partial accreditation from the Board of Immigration Appeals on April 22, 2013. He directs the work of the ISAAC San Antonio Center at Baptist University of the Américas.
He holds a B.A. degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (I.T.E.S.M.), an M.A. degree in Spanish from New Mexico State University, and a Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of Arizona. Dr. Romero is married to Elsa Laura and has been blessed with three children: David, 25; Ana Laura, 23, and Daniel Alejandro, 17.
