Mary Ranjel is the Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management at the Baptist University of the Américas.
She is responsible for Admissions, Recruitment, Registration, Financial Aid, Housing, Student Success, Student Conduct/Discipline, and the Student Fitness Center. She supervises the Dean of Student Services, who oversees student organizations and student activities.
Born in San Antonio, Ranjel accepted the Lord at the age of 11 at the Trinity Baptist Mission, a mission of Trinity Baptist Church, where she also became a church pianist.
She graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School and was a teacher for the Head Start Program from 1968-1973. While there, she took classes at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, now Texas State University, and took child development courses at San Antonio College, one of the Alamo Colleges.
Ranjel came to BUA as a part-time file clerk/receptionist in August 1976 when it was the Mexican Baptist Bible Institute. She gradually was promoted, becoming Secretary to the Director of Development, Secretary to the Academic Dean, Registrar, Administrative Assistant to the President, Director of Campus Relations, Director of Admissions, and now serves as Vice President of Student Services.
She earned her B.S.O.E. from Wayland Baptist University in 1993 and earned her M.S. in Training and Development from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2011.
Ranjel was a pastor’s wife for a total of 25 years and has been a widow for the last 15 years. She has three children, John Stephen, Mary Elizabeth and Ramona Ruth; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
