March 8th @ 11 a.m. – Bea Mesquias Chapel
Susan Habegger is the Coordinator of Community Missions at First Baptist Church San Antonio as well as the Founder and Executive Director of Thrive Life Skills, a non-profit with a vision to equip and empower people to reach their God-given potential in their environment. Thrive Life Skills provides life skills courses that are relevant, full of truth, and presented in a way that is easily understood and applied by the student. Susan has spent 25 years living in and traveling to countries in Asia and Africa for the purpose of providing tools for living and hope for the future. This includes working with refugees in the states and in the refugee camps on the border of Thailand and Myanmar.
While much of her work has been concentrated in other countries, she cares deeply about the local church in America and each congregation’s responsibility to the communities they find themselves in. Her work with FBC in San Antonio has focused primarily on shepherding a missional spirit into the lives of brothers and sisters there. She has a heart for the forgotten, the “other,” and the disadvantaged. And her hope in the Gospel fuels the way she responds to the injustices she observes.
Susan is the mother of three daughters and “nana” to seven grandchildren. She enjoys reading, writing, and good long walks. The journey of life has had some bends in the road, but God has been a faithful and loving companion.
