Come join us for chapel on Tuesday, Jan 31st with speaker Reverend Carroll Pickett!

The topic is “Two Questions”, Micah 6:8 and Matthew 19: 16-22.

Rev. Carroll L. Pickett was born and raised in Texas. He was a Presbyterian Minister at four churches before beginning his ministry at the Walls Unit, Texas Prison System in Huntsville, Texas in 1980.

In 1982, he was the Chaplain for the first Lethal Injection Execution in the world.

While working for 16 years, Chaplain Pickett ministered to 95 men who were killed by the State of Texas. After leaving the prison in 1995, he authored a book, “Within These Walls” which won many awards, including a finalist for the International PEN Award.

A documentary, “At The Death House Door”, was produced by Steve James and Peter Gilbert, and IFC TV Channel, along with the Chicago Tribune. National and International Awards numbering over 100 attest to the quality and integrity of this film and the producers. It made the short list for an Academy Award in 2009.

Since the documentary, Chaplain Pickett has traveled to more than 30 states and Alaska, speaking to hundreds of churches and groups and sponsors. He travels over 50,000 miles a year to speak against the Death Penalty and to show the documentary.
