A Message to Prospective Donors

For over 50 years the BUA LRC has received numerous donations of books, artifacts, and funds for which we are extremely grateful. Those donations have enriched the lives of many over several years. Funds have often provided directly for books, periodicals, and equipment which we would not have otherwise been able to acquire. However, in accepting material donations we have determined that due to various limitations, it is wise for the library to reserve the privilege of deciding what should be kept for the collection.

On occasion, items given cannot be added to the collection for the following reasons.

• The library already possesses duplicates of that item in sufficient numbers.
• The material is outdated and does not have sufficient reference or circulating value to the library.
• The item is in poor physical condition beyond justifying the expense of repair and processing.
• The item does not support the curriculum being taught.

The library conscientiously handles all gift material which it does not add to its collection. If suitable, it is offered to other libraries or institutions as gifts or exchanges. Materials, not disposed of otherwise, may be suitable for recycling or sale to students.
