On February 23rd and 24th, BUA students took part in the Shine Girls Conference, a two-day statewide event dedicated to uplifting the hearts and minds of younger generations. Founded by Brenda Rincones, Shine aims to inspire young girls to live passionately for Christ. Ms. Rincones felt a profound calling from God when she witnessed, via livestream, a youth camp where many attendees were struggling with suicidal thoughts. Among them, she recognized the daughter of a friend, a moment that marked a pivotal turning point in her ministry, as she realized the depth of despair facing children from their own churches.

At the Shine Conference, BUA students had the opportunity to minister to the lives of young attendees in various capacities. Some led workshops, others volunteered their time to assist with the running of the event, and others apported with their musical skills during worship sessions.

In the workshops, Yamileth Guzman shared insights on missions, Cara Arevalo addressed the topic of anxiety, and Yvette Arevalo spoke about the importance of faith and fitness in caring for the body, the Holy Spirit’s temple. Among the student volunteers were Andrea Mendoza, Paola Marquez, Amanda Andino, Anthony Andino, Zoe Huron, and Jeremias Mendoza. For the worship sessions, Bailey Rosas was in charge of vocals and playing the guitar and Obed Montoya played the drums.

The Shine Girls Conference is a platform that through dynamic speakers, talented worship musicians, and volunteers of various important things, delivers a relevant and powerful message aimed at pointing the hearts of young girls to Christ.

“We are proud of our students who served as instruments of the Lord to minister to their peers,” expressed President Dr. Abraham Jaquez. “It’s truly inspiring to witness how the Lord is using BUA students to bless others and expand His Kingdom.” Through their participation in the Shine Conference, these students exemplified BUA’s commitment to forming cross-cultural servant leaders who can excel in everything they do.
