Overview & Academics
The Associate of Arts degree in Cross-cultural Studies offers every student an opportunity to engage and navigate changing global environments (Changing Our World). At Baptist University of the Americas it is our mission to develop Cross-cultural Christian Leaders from the Hispanic perspective. We believe Hispanics have a unique transcultural history and culture that serves as a good starting point toward cross-cultural competency. The goal of the program is to equip our students to relate authentically with those of other cultures while respecting each person’s distinctive identity.
Those who participate in our AA degree courses will find open, caring professors who love God and people. They deliver quality content (English, Science, Math, History, Spanish, Art, or Music) while integrating cross-cultural experiences and skills. All courses are taught in English, but we appreciate and welcome a diverse group of students.
The concepts and skills gained in courses like Cross-cultural Communications and Personal Dimensions of Leadership are applicable in all other academic disciplines the university offers including: Bible/Theology, Spanish, Music, Business Leadership, or Human Behavior. Students who complete the AA degree requirements gain valuable knowledge that covers many global, racial, and philosophical issues.
The potential uses for this degree vary as students go on to serve as missionaries, pastors, entrepreneurs, educators, social advocates, and musicians around the world. In addition, the degree is designed to meet all basic general education requirements in most colleges and universities, provide foundational understanding of the Bible, and convey a biblically based ethics model for interacting across cultures.
Our campus has a unique learning environment with people from over 18 countries. If you have been called to affect change in the world by interacting with people from a variety of cultures–sign up today.
