BUA provides opportunities for our students to participate in Christian mission and community projects throughout the year.
Beach Reach
Every Spring Break, BUA students join others from local universities for a week-long outreach and missions experience in South Padre Island (SPI), Texas. Spring Breakers from all over the U.S. come to the SPI beach for a week of partying, but through the students participating in Beach Reach, they have an opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and experience His love.
Set Apart Missions
Every summer, BUA students are given an opportunity to be a part of mission and ministry efforts in their local community and beyond. Through the Set Apart program, students have an opportunity to receive a scholarship for their service and receive assistance with travel expenses. Those that serve can do so for 1 week, several weeks or even the whole summer.
International Missions
When possible, BUA students get to travel to another country during the university’s Fall Break to share the good news of Jesus and share His love with those in need. The last 2 years groups have served in Monterrey, Mexico. They have done so in poor communities, college campuses and other hard to reach areas. It’s always a blessing to see our students give of their time and effort to make a difference in someone’s life.
Local Mission Projects
The BUA Impact Team provides opportunities during the year for BUA students to demonstrate the love of God to a hurting world, even those closest to us.
The above projects are carried out by the university and Baptist Student Ministry and are primarily sponsored by the Mary Hill Davis Missions Offering.
For more information about these opportunities or to sign up for them, please contact Mr. Joel Vargas, Coordinator of Student Experience, at (210) 924-4338 or joel.vargas@bua.edu.
